UFO's..... They are everywhere....

That's what we are supposed to believe from some of the shows that they broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Check out the forum Topic I have dedicated to this and lets start a discussion.

UFO Pictures....

I am going to post some pictures to the forums today to show just how gullible people are when attempting to make us believe that these are true UFO's. Check the forums and I will post some good ones here.

UFO's.... Oh My...

I found this posted on a webpage talking about UFO's and Extraterrestrials. Where do these people get this information and then they only post bits of information making it sound as if all of it were true. Here is the post.

Extraterrestrial Civilizations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Extraterrestrial Civilizations

ACCORDING TO THE DATA RECEIVED FROM PSYCHICS, CHANNELERS, REMOTE VIEWERS, PROPHETS AND ABDUCTEES.

THE ARCTURIANS LIVE BY THE STAR "ARTURUS", 37 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH. A PLANET HAS BEEN DISCOVERED ORBITING THERE! THE ARCTURIANS ARE THE MOST ADVANCED CIVILIZATION IN OUR GALAXY.

THE SIRIANS ARE FROM THE CONSTELLATION "CANIS MAJOR", 8 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH. "SIRIUS" IS THE BRIGHTEST STAR IN THE NIGHT SKY. A NEW PLANET HAS BEEN DISCOVERED ORBITING THE STAR "GLEISE 229" NEAR THERE!

UNKNOWNS ARE FROM THE CONSTELLATION "CYGNUS". A PLANET HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THERE. A PLANET HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THERE ORBITING THE STAR "16 CYGNUS"!

THE SATINIANS ARE FROM THE STAR "ALPHA CENTAURI", 4.2 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH. THIS STAR IS VERY SIMILAR TO OUR SUN. THE CHANCES FOR LIFE ARE EXCELLENT.

THE ZETA'S OR GREYS LIVE IN THE CONSTELLATION "RETICULUM" BY THE STAR "ZETA 2 RETICULI. A PLANET WAS DISCOVERED THERE AND THEN SUDDENLY TAKEN OFF THE LIST.

THE VEGANS LIKE THE "LYRIANS" ARE FROM THE CONSTELLATION "LYRA". THE STAR "VEGA" IS 26 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH. THE MOVIE "CONTACT" REFERRED TO THIS CIVILIZATION.

PLEIADIANS LIVE IN THE CONSTELLATION "TAURUS", 400 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH.

THE LYRIANS ARE FROM THE CONSTELLATION "LYRA".

THE ORIONS ARE FROM THE CONSTELLATION "ORION".

THE UMMITES FROM THE STAR "WOLF 424", 14 LIGHT YEARS FROM EARTH.

THE JARGA ARE FROM THE STAR "EPSILON ERIDANI".

:end of qoute

Most of the Stars they have listed do have planets orbiting around them, but most of these planets are Gas GIants with orbits so close and so eliptical that there is really no chance that a suitable planet could be orbiting along with it. I will rant more about this in the forums.

Marfa Lights

Okay.. I have had my chain pulled before and someone tried it again yesterday. I was told about the Marfa Lights out towards Big Bend Texas direction. They told me that no one knows what they are. They float and change colors and that as soon as you try to get close to them, they vanish.

The official site for this doesn't mention that there is a Highway directly behind and to the right of the main view area. Plus if you go to other sites about this, It is pretty clear that most of the reports say that they see car headlights and tail lights. As well as other colors from Trucks running lights.

I am sure it is just a refraction thing with the highway close buy. Some people may contend that I am wrong and that the lights have been around since the 1800's. Well, no one has an official transcript of any reports of these things, only handme down tails that they claim came from an actual person.

I may go there and try a couple different things. One is to go to the viewing site and see. Then the other would be to drive on the highway and take an exit that is looking at the site with no other roads behind it and see if I can see the lights. Then, if I do, I will jump on the bandwagon that these are a natural mystery. But right now it seems just something to pull people into the local towns to keep a flow of money going their way.

This just in from http://www.arxivblog.com/

Found this on the net. I usually don't cut and paste but this is interesting.

And the number of intelligent civilisations in our galaxy is…
October 20th, 2008

31573.52

No really. At least according to Duncan Forgan at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh.

The Drake equation famously calculates the number of advanced civilisations that should populate our galaxy right now. The result is hugely sensitive to the assumptions you make about factors such as the number of planets that orbit a host star that are potentially habitable, how many of these actually develop life and what fraction of that goes onto become intelligent etc.

Disagreement (ie general ignorance) over these numbers leads to estimates of the number intelligent civilisations in our galaxy that range from 10^-5 to 10^6. In other words, your best bet is to pick a number, double it….

So Forgan has attempted to inject a little more precision into the calculation. His idea is to actually simulate many times over, the number of civilisations that may have appeared in a galaxy like ours using reasonable, modern estimates for the values in the Drake equation.

With these statistics you can calculate an average value and a standard deviation for the number of advanced civilisations in our galaxy.

Better still, it allows you to compare the results of different models of civilisation creation.

Horgan has clearly had some fun comparing three models:

i. panspermia: if life forms on one planet, it can spread to others in a system

ii. the rare-life hypothesis: Earth-like planets are rare but life progresses pretty well on them when they occur

iii. the tortoise and hare hypothesis: Earth-like plants are common but the steps towards civilisation are hard

And the results are:

i. panspermia predicts 37964.97 advanced civilisations in our galaxy with a standard deviation of 20.

ii. the rare life hypothesis predicts 361.2 advanced civilisations with an SD of 2

iii. the tortoise and hare hypothesis predicts 31573.52 with an SD of 20.

Those are fantastically precise numbers. But before you start broadcasting to your newfound friends with a flashlight, it’s worth considering their accuracy.

The results of simulations like this are no better than than the assumptions you make in developing them. And these, of course, are based on our manifestly imperfect but rapidly improving knowledge of the heavens.

The real question is whether we’ll ever have good enough data to plug in to a model like this to give us a decent answer, without actually discovering another intelligent civilisation. And the answer to that is almost certainly not.
