Today I cancelled my accounts on Tribe.com, MySpace, Facebook. Everyone says that these are a great place to meet people, but from my look around, it seems that they are just a meat market where unless your super cool and spend hours upon hours posting and posting and posting, you really are just wasting your time.

I could be wrong but from what I have seen it is just not worth the time sitting in front of your computer posting messages on forums that may only get one or two comments from time to time.

Enough of the madness. I want content and I want results, not empty promises that this is the coolest thing and I should do it.

Bah. LOL

Now back to my 3D Modeling. WooHooooo!!!

Just did some messing around with some basic Layers to see if I can make the world globe without having to make UV maps. It isn't a big deal making them but I was just curious if I could make it without doing the footwork.

Here are the results. Although it looks good, I am not happy with it right now. I will be working on the UV Maps later on this week. Who knows maybe I'll have a breakthrough while I am waiting for something to finish at work.

For now here are some test renders along with an animated GIF that is 1.4megs. Sorry to all the slow internet users for this.

I will be opening the books but not much on this one. I have decided to make a rotating globe of the earth with the Lights of the world lit-up on the darkside. I will also include a cloud layer and an atmosphere layer. And of course a starfield Background.

Here is a simple test image that I did just to see if the image I had was good enough quality. It was a 2.5meg tif file wrapped around a globe with some bump layering added.

Well the big spoof is over. The Email scam was about two people getting into trouble was a scam. Part of a Big April Fools Joke that didn't quite go off on time.

:) Yes it was true that the department heads wanted to know names but there was no way to really say what happened, since it happened so quickly. I still don't ever want to go through an email crash again though. It isn't fun.

But back to things. I have turned off my weather station since so many things were failing. The weather page is going to be reworked, when, I don't know but soon. It will still have the neat satelite stuff and radar, but I will have to find live data to put in it's place for some of the other goodies I had there.

And onto 3D. I am and have been opening the books again, looking at things and trying to figure out how to do stuff. Looks like I will be posting work progress as soon as this weekend goes by. We have a Spring Football Game and since I have to be there, I am going to take Sunday off and vegitate.
