Mangalore the Alien Bust
Here is an Alien Bust that came with Lightwave but I modified it a little since I didn't like some of the surfaces that they had applied to it. Now he looks a little more ruffed up.

I was working on a 3D Model of Spacemanbob today and got some good practice in on making the model. The bad thing is that it has a few issues when I try to render it. I will see if I can get them straigtened out. If not I'll just start over and see how it goes the next time. The more I practice the better I get so it doesn't bother me too much to have to go from ground zero at this point.

A Special Thanks goes to my friend Mike who brought Spacemanbob to life one night a long time ago when we had a fun party.
This is classic. I love it. This was an entry for the Master and Servant Competition that they just wrapped up. I would say that this image captured the feeling of the topic.

I ended up cleaning up some categories that I never used and also checked into cleaning up the Archive. Not quite sure how to do this since I don't want to delete them but I am not wanting them showing up as a per month link on my blog. I would rather have a Yearly Archive link per year since I have had this up for so long.
You got to love this concept. There are so many entries that are catching my eye, I sure hope they put out a book on this competition. This one is a classic struggle for the Master as the Servants have had enough.

It was a nice introduction to making a face. Something I never knew how to do. The bad part is that I need a lot of work to make this look better. LOL It looks ugly. But what the heck, it was my first ever tutorial on making one and it did look human in an ugly way. LOL
I thought I deleted it but here it is.

I butchered you Mike. Sorry. LOL Had to post this. I guess it just goes to show you that you should have a good picture of your friends before trying to make them into 3D.

I have to say that this looks and feels like a old world painting. The emotion the curiosity and the story is all told by everything in this digital painting. Cudos to the author.

Just decided to make a Brick Building. Haven't gotten very far and I am just using standard image mapping which isn't looking good on some areas, but overall it is something fun to do.

Update

Just added some finer brick and tuned some of the image mapping a bit.
I am really thinking about removing the forums since no one really uses them including me. I guess the main reason I had them is that I could come back to a specific topic but since I post on specifics and can search it in my blogs why bother with seperate forum where you have to subscribe again to post things to me. Soooo.. I will just remove it since there isn't anything in it anyways.
On other news... I may put up a photoblog but am still looking into how to do this the right way. Why am I thinking about it.. well I have my camera with me almost everywhere and am interested in taking shots of things just for the heck of it. But then again I don't travel that much and there isn't all that much to shoot here in College Station. We will see. Guess I can always take it down if I don't use it.
I am taking a break from making this Brick Building. Just need a small break from thinking how to make this. Next step is to put some steps on this sucker.

One last entry before I pass out. I had to get that doorway started, it was really bugging me having a building with no entryway. So here ya go.

I spent some time trying to update my Gallery Section on my site to the new version. What a mistake. LOL Messed everything up. I ended up having to delete the whole thing and install the new version. Now comes the task up making the Albums and uploading all the images again.
Good news is that it is more stable and there are more tools to use to upload images to it. I have changed the links on my site to take you to the Daily Photo or Photo of the Day cause I know I won't be taking a picture of something each day if I am not around. So there you have it.
Just a side note. I have noticed that Weatherunderground is offline right now and not displaying any images or getting to their site. Hopefully they are just going thru some maint. If they are not up in the next couple days, then we all know what happened. Belly Up!!!!!
See ya on the flip side. I am out of here and headed for home.
While waiting for some things to finish installing on some servers I ended up making a few changes to the Gallery Section of the site. It is all up and running. I am still toying with the idea of switching to Gallery version 2 but will make that grand choice later today if I get time.
Seems that some people think that work all day and no play is the way life should be lived. What I mean about that is that if you have a hobby and it doesn't produce anything valuable to todays society it isn't worth the time to do it. They say sooooo.... what does that produce..Nothing??? What a waste of time.
I have been getting a lot of this lately and it is bugging me to no end. Why is it that if it makes me happy to look up into the night sky or experiment on the computer with 3D applications or just relax and do no brainer things from time to time is considered wasting time. I guess if you feel that you must work every second of your life all the time until your so beat, you can't enjoy the time off that you get because you will be thinking that your wasting time in someone elses point of view.
I guess thats why people have hobbies. It gets their mind off of WORK all the time and allows your brain to give your nerouns an alternative path to take instead of the superhighway path burning that freewaypath up.
Okay, enough of this.
Wait... Did I say I miss Backpacking, Setting up the Telescope and gazing in it for hours on end, Creating 3d objects on the computer, creating interesting content on web pages, playing computer games every so often, Mountain Biking, Camping in the woods, walking along the beach, reading and sometimes just watching mindless TV but not much of that at all.
I had a hard drive failure on my remote control cam. I will get a new hard drive in it tomorrow and have the system back online. Sorry for the down time.
I have gotten to work on the replacement hard drive for the web cam. I have also decided to make it a render station for Lightwave also and will be connecting it up later this afternoon. Things look good for it being back online within 5 hours from now.
I used to use Audio Blog to post voice messages to my site. I am now going to be taking that option off since the company that hosts it does not answer any of their emails and it does not post it to my website anymore, but they still want to charge me 9 bucks every three months.
I am also going to be adding a Books that I have Read section. That way you can buy and see where I am coming from when I talk about graphics or astronomy.
Gonna take some pictures today if I can find ones with the subject I want. I have been seeing somethings along the road that deserve more attention. You'll see when I post them. I just scratch my head when I see them.
I have the new hard drive installed and the programs running to allow the remote control of the cam. I am now in the process of installing the Lightwave Render Farm Software so I can use more than one computer to finish rendering when I make an animation.
I am now reading a new Lightwave 3D Book called Inside Lightwave [8]. This is a good book also like the others I have been reading. I wanted something to focus my attention onto making something out of a square block. I didn't know that this would be this easy but it is. I am still learning and without this tutorial I wouldn't know where to start, but now, I am getting ideas for making other things.
Here is a model view and a semi render view. I see a few things I need to try to fix but I will work on it as soon as I can.

I have been messing with some servers all day and had to blow off some steam while one of them was working on some diagnostics for me.
Here is just a simple texture addon to the Giraffe Head that I haven't really touched since last night when I was working on some other IT stuff waiting for it to finish. LOL
Hope you enjoy it.

I have to say that I liked it. Once again they made sure Tom Cruise didn't speak much. He did play a believable fearful dad and thank god he didn't speak much. Seems he always does his best work when he doesn't open his mouth. Good action suspense....thinking movie. What would you do type of thing in his shoes.
I will get this on DVD soon. But it is really good in surround sound and the big screen.
