Well as the year closes on 2003 it has been a rough ride for this Spaceman, but not so rough that he feels beaten. On the contrary. I feel more optimistic that I will be moving up in the job market with my experience and will be better off financially than this last year. Although things will be tough, I plan to work hard to make ends meet and to find ways of improving.
This coming year will be challenging work wise as I know Texas A&M will not come through with the raise that I was promised, that is until they have to in Sept2004 and who knows what that will be with out Athletics Department spending money on everything but the people running it. Either way. I will strive to learn all I can to further my carreer and make the network stable.
As for my children. I will continue to see them when I can come up with the extra money to travel to them. I will in the mean time send them clothes and other things as I can, hoping that the mother will read them my emails and pictures.
As for my Friends in the world. I appreciate all your support and friendship and love that you give back to me. If it wasn't for you, I would have collapsed a long time ago under the strains of what to do in my life. You are the anchor that keeps me grounded when I need it.
On that note. I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!!! Now Drink up and bring in the new year.
Terrorists Pose New Onboard Threat
There is concern that terrorists who have flight training experience have either infiltrated foreign flight crews, U.S. intelligence officials told ABCNEWS, as the Department of Homeland Security ordered foreign airlines to place armed marshals on selected flights.
Bob
Dec 31, 2003 7:32 PM
Well... I wonder if these Terrorists are that far and deep into our airline industry. You just don't graduate out of an airline training school and land a job flying people around on a big airliner. I would be concerned but not too worried since all the checking that goes on now makes it almost impossible to get on a flight with anything that looks like a weapon.
Plus unless you haven't flown lately. The Pilots door looks like a Brinks Armed door with bullet proof glass to look through.
I wouldn't worry about it.
I am working on some news feeds that will be shown on the main front Spacemanbob page before you get here. These will be some small changes to allow you to see all that I have going on besides my blogger and personal forum.
Don't worry though. I will not bow down to other sites and include ad's for products. NEVER LOL
I have my Weather Station Software installed now and will be working on getting the page up and running once again. It will be up before the New Year is in full swing. :)
Twin Rovers to Take Photographs of Mars (AP)
AP - Like a couple of camera-packing tourists, two robotic rovers are schlepping enough photographic gear to Mars to keep the folks back home in pictures for years.
Bob
Dec 30, 2003 11:32 PM
I sure hope that these two Rovers that we are sending will make it to Mars and survive the entry to the surface below. Considering that they can travel 100 meters a day we will get more data and better shots from them.
First one lands this Saturday.
Cross your fingers.

what about the british thing...last I heard it landed and that maybe the antenna was pointing in the wrong direction...has it been declared dead or what?
Well it took me a while to get back home but I finally did it. Although it was a long journey and full of great moments in California I feel able to get some good rest.
I had some good quality time with my Friends. Dana is a great guy and I would have liked to spend more time with him. I feel sorry that I missed the directions and almost got lost on a turn off trying to get back but there will always be more times to come out and see him.
Mike and Kelly were great and as usuall I ended up just eating DimSum on Sunday. Now that was good. :) Yummy.
Now back to the home front. I got some good books and will now be reading them since I have some time off and will be making some changes as I learn them. All for the benifit of you guys. ;)
Take it easy for now.
Welp, I am here enjoying the time off, and am getting ready to hit Disneylend. I'll have some pictures to upload to you all probably tonight when I get back.
I wish everyone a Happy Holiday. You should all get what you want from Santie Claws...... :) LOL
If you have a DVD Burner and would like to make backup copies of your movies for protection against scratches and damage. Get DVD Shrink. It is a free program that will copy your DVD to your Hard Drive so you can then burn them onto another DVD.
There is a little research involved here but the help screens walk you through what you need to do in order to make the copy.
Remember this is not for making copies for your friends but only making backups of your originals in case they get damaged. You can never have enough backups... hint..hint..

Yuck... This DVD Shrink looks good but so far we haven't been able to produce a single DVD that will play in a machine, without having to select individual movie files form a ton inside the disk.
We will get this figured out though.
I had a busy work day today. Was rushing around working on small issues that pop up on a day to day basis. If only I had some student workers in to work on some things for me. I wouldn't be here now at 6pm.
I'll be leaving for home soon though. :)

Seems pretty easy to bash on those busy students.. Whole net community knows they're the real backbone of the operation... j/k boss
You know if we could, we'd pitch in.
Thats where this student worker will end his rant because hes staying up all night to study.
~catch ya on the flip-side.
Boy is it hot. Although it is 55 degrees outside, it is over 90 degrees inside. Seems the Janitors turned up the heater this weekend. My office is now 90 and the server room is over 100. I'm not the only one affected by this either. Seems some people lost some plants due to them turning it up this weekend.
I may have to go home and put on a short sleeve shirt if this keeps up.
YES!!!!! It is about time and I am glad that he is finally going to pay for all the things he has done to his own people.

HAR HAR
I am working on setting up a photo gallery where I can upload images straight to the web from anyplace I have an internet connection and my laptop or computer with USB support.
What this means is this. I will have some password protected areas, for family pictures that I don't want the world to see and other areas, for the whole internet to see. Another thing this means is this. I need to use my camera a lot more than I have been. But don't worry. Images from other galleries already deep inside spacemanbob.com will be converted over as soon as I figure out how this new one all works.
No more searching links for photo's of SPACEMANBOB. One place will include all of the goods. :)
Bob

The photo gallery is online and i am going to start uploading images now. Look for the link soon.
Ok folks.... I watched this show last night with Bryant Gumble. It actually raised more questions than it did answer them for me. One thing I noticed though is that they were promoting so many other peoples books and theories that it clouded the whole story.
When they did focus on some individuals, their visual discriptions of what happened were different to say the least. If you are going to put people on that are going to be telling what they saw, at least make sure that they will tell similar stories so we will believe it. These people told stories of what they saw so different that they could have been reporting on totally different events.
But back to the post.
I will be posting what I can find on this in the forums so we can all look at some of the data and go hunting ourselves for ALIENS.

Now this is scary... I can now post Audio Blogs from the road. I can only post 12 a month so it won't be a whole bunch but I will experiment with it. Who knows. Maybe I will post something wild and crazy when I am out in Los Angeles.
Thanks to BZORG I now own Hostileplanet.com and org. Not to mention Spacemanconspiracy.com and .org also.
I would like to thank Go Daddy .com though for having the domain names so cheap at 8 bucks a pop.
Bzorg, who is confussed
Dec 13, 2003 9:36 AM
ahhh, Mr Spaceman, I am humbled to have helped you, but at a loss to understand how I did that?
p.s. how do you go about getting a domain name? When I have fianl dominion over this watery orb, I might want to do just that?
Bob
Dec 13, 2003 9:58 AM
You made an entry the other day and put the email address of bzorg@hostileplanet.com. I did a search on hostileplanet.com and found out that it wasn't registered to anyone. So I decided I liked the name and bought it. I don't know what I am going to do with that quite yet but am sure I will think of something soon.
Bzorg, the benefactor...
Dec 15, 2003 9:41 AM
So how would I go about buying a site, as you did? where and how is it done?
Ok.. I added something to show that I truely like your comments. I have included a new script that will post your comments as if you put them right under my post. This way you don't have to click on a link to see that comments from people.
If you would rather have the comments in a top 5 list then let me know. Right now it makes it easier to figure out what we are all talking about without having to pop open another window.

Testing the Comments section
Another UFO show comes on the air again at the SciFi Channel. They are going to investigate a sighting at an English airbase and try to convince me that the UFO is real.
What I suspect will happen is that there will be a lot of speculation and fuzzy video tapes. Along with poor sound bites making us believe that someone is really telling us what we want to hear.
I'll watch this program but will hold my tongue until it is finally over. In my opinion, if this were such a big case, it should have been blown out of proportion a long time ago. The Human species is just to curious to hold onto something this important for so long without telling someone about it. Just think about all the people that work on the spy planes in testing. Other people know about it way before the general public does. That's because us humans like talking about what we do for a living. It is habit and nothing will change that. Someone or in specifics, many people would have already leaked out information to their friends who in turn would hae eventually leaked this to other friends.
In the mean time I will find something on the net to look at and post my findings here for you all to digest.
p.s. I want to believe, but have not run across anything yet that I can say is anything truely out of this world. :)
I set you up with an account to post to the blog of Spacemanbob, but you still do not post or have configured your blogging tool. :(
Get off your but and start posting or ....or ....else. LOL

OOOO, give me the blogger tool spaceman. Mean Mr. Dana is not worthy! ME, Me, ME! may-waaa-ha-ha!
If you would like a challenging job. Go into the Computer Industry. It is constantly changing and will overflow your mind with new operating systems and software every three years if not yearly.
I am constantly having to learn new things and remember old things to make some things work. LOL Seems just as we get a computer or Server all set up, some new software comes out that then makes us change up configurations.
I really wish they had matrix like memory plugins so we could use it as short term memory to know how to work certain computers for a couple hours.
But back to reality. I am working on some Server Hardware which is giving me an early morning brain blank. Seems that maybe BZORG is blocking my brain wave patterns. STOP IT!!!! LOL
Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
If you want to just leave a simple chat message to me. You can now use the Quick Chat option on the left side of the page. Don't worry you won't have to leave a web page address. Only if you want to when people try to click on your name.
The best thing about it is that if I am online and looking at my page, it will refresh when you hit the save button.
p.s. I am trying to work on a plugin that will display the top 5 comments on the right side of the web page. But as of right now. I don't know how to get all the coding set up. I am working on it though.
Ok... Once again I am going off the deep end when it comes to work.
We are hiring a new Microcomputer Support person. At first it seemed a good idea to hire someone with a lot of Mac Experience so they could handle any Mac issues that came up, and we had a lot at the time we talked about it. Now two months later we have no mac issues. We were also thinking about a certain individual because he had some computer lab experience. Now the new person is not going over to the new athletics building so we don't really need that.
Of the people we have interviewed we came up with two decent prospects.
One person with a lot of Mac Experience and no Novell experience, along with no real computer trouble shooting experience with current technology. His last computer to build was a Pentium 500 MHz.
Person number two has worked on and built computers as of a week ago. Has a lot of computer trouble shooting skills and has used Novell in the past to administer the network. The only thing he doesn't have is MAC experience.
So I find out today that they are going to offer the job to guy number one. I would prefer guy number two since I won't have to sit down and teach him how to do his job. Plus I get along better with guy number two.
I am looking into some plugins to add some functionality to the site for me as well as the user.
I also have an idea for the main initial page of Spacemanbob.com. It will include some new links to items and will serve as a spring board for entering the world of Spacemanbob.
Look forward to the changes.
I have been thinking about some things lately. I'll be posting my thougts and will try to make these posts intelligent. My plan is to work on good posting to keep you all interested in the things going on in the daily thinking of the incredible edible Spacemanbob. :)

Behold the spaceman, like the incredible edible egg, one must first crack the shell to get at the goodies within...
Soo... once again I work for some people that have never been in a corperate environment in an IT department. And it shows.
We are now moving people into a brand new facility and have a lot of computers there that will need support. The original proposal was to move one computer support person over there so we could have better coverage of calls from the whole department in general. We are also hiring a new person to help in the calls and to free up our programmer from having to do such issues.
NOT!!!!!
In their grand vision they once again throw all common sense out into the cold and go with a new plan.
They are now putting the programmer in the new facility to handle all the trouble calls in that new area and we are still hiring a new computer support person and he will be in the office next to me. What a mess. Now we will have twice the coverage in one building and still force people to wait for help in the other buildings further away.
I am constantly surprised by choices like these.
All I can say is this. If the Programmer wants to be a computer trouble shooter he should have applied for the open position and we should have put an add for a new programmer instead.
Getting off soap box now.
Finally I got to put some CSS to work. I now have the layout of the blogger the way I want for now. I don't know why it took me this long to get to this but at least it is done. Now I can start working on getting the older links back online for you to all enjoy.
I am working on some new CSS to make the webpage look a little better. This is a long term project so things will progress as I find the time. Which I have a little more of these days.
Just wanted to let you all know.
p.s. I am still waiting for UFO information to comment on, so if you find any, post it on in the forums.
