Star Wars Galaxies Opening day.

Boy what a mess. I got the game in the mail today, ripped it open, installed it and then proceeded to pull my hair out.

It took me 45 minutes of hitting the back buttons and reloading the starting login screens to finally get registered. What a relief. Then I get in to the server list to see a whole bunch of servers to choose from. Nice. I log in to a server create a character and proceed to take a tutorial(which I had taken in beta) just to see if things have changed. Nope they didn't. It is a nice Tutorial for beginners.

Plop... The shuttle puts me on Naboo and I proceed to see if there are any other people on the server in the city I am in. Nope. Not a soul. I then find some trainers and train up Marksman and Novic Medic so I can heal myself. Run to the bank and deposit the last 100 credits I have. By the time I finished about two hours later, I had accomplished the task of raising some basic skills to be trained. The only problem is to find someone to barter with so I can make some money to train with. No luck Still no one on the server. The day roles on at work.....

5pm sounds and I am out of there like a bolt of lightning. Bang Zoom... I head home. Install the game at home and then get in the game. I get to play for about an hour and then things start happening. The server crashes. I say ok figures... They pushed the launch date a little too early.

It is now 11pm and all the servers are turning off and on like xmas tree lights. The chat support rooms are loaded with 800 people plus all yelling What the Hell????

This is a sad launch day for SWG. Poor planning made this turn into a flop when it could have been such a good thing if the servers were stable enough to let people play and create their persona's.

Here is a picture of the opening animation.
